SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER WITH SENATOR BEN DOWNING

Downing’s Pittsfield office is a drop-off location for Toys for Tots holiday donations

Come to his Annual Toys for Tots Open House on Tuesday, December 1st

Pittsfield – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D- Pittsfield) is pleased to announce that his district office, located at 7 North Street, Suite 307 in downtown Pittsfield, is once again serving as a drop-off site for Toys for Tots holiday donations.  Starting tomorrow, the Senator and his staff will collect donations of unwrapped toys through December 11th.

“I am proud to partner with the US Marines in this great cause again this year,” said Downing. “I hope that families and children across western Mass will have a happy, merry and bright Christmas morning thanks to the generosity of others and the donations we can help collect."

The Senator’s Pittsfield office is open Monday through Friday, from 9am until 5pm.  Walk-ins are always welcome; no appointment is necessary to bring a donation or speak with the Senator’s district staff.

Downing’s district office has been a Toys for Tots drop-off site since 2011.  The Senator will host his Annual Toys for Tots Open House on Tuesday, December 1st from 4:00-7:00pm to collect donations. This event is open to the public; the entry fee is a new, unwrapped toy. During the event Senator Downing will also announce the winner of his 2nd Annual Holiday Greeting Card Design Contest, which received 226 from local students in grades 3-8.  The winning design is being used as the cover art for the Senator’s holiday greeting this year.

The Marines from the Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee will collect the toys in Downing’s office on December 14th and deliver them throughout western Massachusetts.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
